چکیده

Using HsPO4 and the dye T-1824 as labels, simultaneous injections were made into the right ventricle and into a peripheral vein, and cardiac output was calculated from the individual flowdilution curves. When a discrepancy beyond the range expected from the use of the two labels occurred, the output from the central injection was always the larger (approximately one-third of the observations, in a small series). This may be attributable to progressive blood loss from sampling, since delayed intraventricular injections under comparable conditions, measure a similarly reduced cardiac output.

An appraisal of the double indicator-dilution method for the estimation of mitral regurgitation in human subjects.

T HE shape of an indicator-dilution curve is determined by at least 4 variables: cardiac output, the volume between the injection site and the sampling site, the presence of a left-to-right intracardiac shunt, and the presence of valvular regurgitation.1-3 In the absence of an intracardiac shunt and valvular regurgitation, one can predict the downslope of the arterial dilution curve, using the ...

Comparison of the effects of intramyocardial and intravenous injections of human mesenchymal stem cells on cardiac regeneration after heart failure

Objective(s): Existing studies have demonstrated that intravenous and intramyocardial-administrated mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) lead to tissue repair after cardiac disorders. We compared the efficiency of both administration methods.Materials and Methods: A rat model of isoproterenol-induced heart failure (ISO-HF) was established to co...

Measurement of the cardiac output in dogs by a conductivity method after single intravenous injections of autogenous plasma.

Equations are developed for the estimation of cardiac output from hematocrit dilution, using the continuously recorded conductivity of whole blood drawn from an artery through a conductivity cell, after a single intravenous injection of autogenous plasma. The equipment used is described, the results are compared with those of simultaneously performed measurements of dye dilution and the advanta...

Comparison of the accuracy of the lithium dilution technique with the thermodilution technique for measurement of cardiac output.

A new indicator dilution technique for measurement of cardiac output is described. Lithium chloride is injected via a central venous catheter and its dilution curve measured in arterial blood using a lithium-selective electrode. We assessed the lithium dilution cardiac output measurement (LiDCO) and a conventional thermodilution cardiac output measurement (ThDCO) by comparing the results of bot...

Measurement of cardiac output and central volume by a modified decholin test of circulation time.

A technic is described for determining mean circulation time, cardiac output, and central blood volume by use of graded dosages of sodium dehydrocholate (Decholin) administered into a peripheral vein. The indicator-dilution curves derived by the technic were compared with radiopotas-sium-dilution curves obtained simultaneously in 12 patients. The results showed a surprisingly good agreement bet...
